“Mexican naval forces killed cartel operator Jesús González Peñuelas, known as ‘El Chuy,’ during an air and ground operation that began Monday in Guasave, Sinaloa, authorities said Wednesday. The suspected drug trafficker was a high-priority target for the U.S. government, which had offered a reward of up to $5 million for his capture. Mexican Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch confirmed the death in a post on X, saying the confrontation began near the Alfredo V. Bonfil neighborhood in Guasave when naval personnel came under fire from members of a criminal organization and returned fire.” (10/28/26)
