“For generations, cops have obtained warrants to lawfully seek information from a specific suspect in a crime. The Supreme Court on Monday is considering whether investigators can also use so-called ‘geofence warrants’ to do the reverse — scanning cell phone data of thousands of innocent individuals in hopes of finding a suspect to apprehend.
