This one may be apocryphal as well, but Twain (supposedly) wrote, ‘Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.’ You can never go wrong with Twain, even if he didn’t actually write that line. There are plenty more where that came from. Here’s one he did write: ‘Suppose I were an idiot. Now, suppose I were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.'” (03/20/26)
