“The 34-day government shutdown is less a crisis of governance than a clear demonstration of the federal state’s non-essential nature. The current political theater, however, shows neither of the two major political parties is serious about keeping government in check, and instead are all about power grabs and financially lining their own pockets—literally. Now, we have President Trump calling to ‘scrap the filibuster,’ and while this is often pitched to the sheepish public as a tool to end political stalemates, it has proven to be a strong procedural barrier to the expansion against the ‘tyranny of the majority.’” (11/02/25)
