“According to an article in the New York Times, draft legislation is circulating in Congress that would authorize President Trump and his military to use deadly force against people deemed to be narco-terrorists who are violating U.S. drug laws, as well as against countries that have aided or harbored such people. Is it Trump seeking such authorization because he is nervous about the potential consequences of having recently ordered the killing of several people on the high seas near Venezuela who were suspected of violating U.S. drug laws? After all, if Trump was legally authorized to summarily kill those people, as he claims, why would it be necessary to get congressional authorization to do so?” (09/24/25)
