“Kennedy’s overall beliefs also seem to point in the direction of a government-driven restructuring of the food industry. If companies such as Kellogg’s and McDonald’s truly ‘mass poison American children,’ as he has said, then the case for federal intervention appears much stronger than it does for just food dyes. Kennedy’s instincts are to play up dubious panics of all kinds, a political style that libertarians have long recognized as a formula for government overreach. … What we’re seeing isn’t new humility from health agencies chastened by the decline in trust in them. The new HHS is just as confident as the old public health establishment, but with even less evidence to back its pronouncements.” (06/02/25)
