“Nationalism is tribalism disguised as patriotism. It pretends to prioritize the interests of the national tribe above all others — America First — but in practice it’s concerned with securing the dominance of favored tribes within the nation. Tell the president that Americans will suffer because of his tariffs and he’ll mumble something about making do with fewer dolls. Tell him that his people will suffer because of them and you’ll get his attention.” (05/15/25)
