“On March 2, both parties were supposed to have entered phase two of the ceasefire, which entailed negotiations to work out the details of a broader agreement for a permanent cessation of hostilities, full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and return of all remaining hostages. Instead, Israel chose that day to reimpose its illegal blockade of humanitarian aid, including food, medicines, and fuel — a brazen violation of its obligations under the ceasefire agreement (as well as Israel’s legal obligations under international humanitarian law as the Occupying Power in Gaza). Israel’s decision to unilaterally end the ceasefire and resume the genocide followed encouragement from President Donald Trump to do precisely that, and the White House immediately confirmed that Israel had consulted with and received approval for its actions from the Trump administration.” (03/27/25)
