Hey, everyone …
Yesterday was a second consecutive “zero dollar day” for our year-end fundraiser, with our total remaining (as of 5:30am Eastern on Wednesday, October 23) at $975 versus our goal of $5,351.
When you’re more than 1/3 of your way to the goal (we have to raise $2,675.50, after which supporter GL will “match funds” to get us to the finish line) but stalled, it’s time to move things up a notch.
So, instead of just updating readers on the fundraiser inside our daily email and social media editions, I’ve escalated the headline to the message title itself as the day’s “top news story.”

The more quickly we reach our goal, the more quickly you stop hearing about it (entirely for the rest of the year, almost entirely until next October).
I hate to go all “the beatings will continue until morale improves,” but we’re a reader-supported publication, you’re a reader, and I hope we all want to get past this and back to “just the news, opinion, and audio/video.”
