“American gymnast Jordan Chiles has filed an appeal in the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland after being denied a bronze medal in the women’s floor event at the 2024 Olympics. It is the latest appeal from Chiles, 23, who has already had two rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas). Romania’s Ana Barbosu was awarded bronze instead by the International Gymnastics Federation (Fig) following a Cas ruling. Chiles had initially finished fifth but, after an inquiry with regard to the difficulty rating of her routine, officials upgraded her score to put her third. But Barbosu and her team then appealed to Cas that the inquiry had been registered four seconds after the one-minute deadline allowed by Fig.” (09/17/24)
