“Former BBC anchor Huw Edwards, once one of the most trusted and recognisable faces on British television, on Monday avoided jail for having ‘repugnant’ photographs of children, capping a stunning fall from stardom. Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring sentenced Edwards, 63, to a six-month jail sentence suspended for two years, meaning he will not serve a custodial term unless he reoffends within that time. … Edwards, 63, pleaded guilty in July to three charges of making indecent images of children, relating to 41 illegal images he was sent via WhatsApp – including two pornographic videos of a child aged between seven and nine years old.” (09/16/24)
