WA: Burglary suspect shot after break-in attempts at apartment complex

“In the early hours of Friday morning, a burglary suspect was shot after reportedly breaking into a Seattle apartment building and attempting to force his way into several units. … Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 28-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper leg. … The investigation led officers to a third-floor apartment, where they spoke with a 31-year-old man, his wife, and their 2-year-old child, who provided crucial details about the incident. According to the family, the suspect had forcefully broken through an exterior door and attempted to enter multiple apartments before reaching their own. They recounted how the suspect began shouting and kicking their door in an aggressive manner. The father of the family reported that he issued several warnings to the intruder prior to the suspect breaching their door. In a moment of self-defense, the father fired a single shot through the door, hitting the suspect in the leg.” (05/06/25)
