Pope Francis back on ventilator after respiratory failure

Source: Washington Post

“Pope Francis suffered two episodes of acute respiratory failure Monday, the Vatican said, a fresh setback in the worst health crisis of his papacy. … The episodes Monday required his return to ‘noninvasive mechanical ventilation’ — an exterior mask that covers the mouth and nose, less invasive than a breathing tube. The pope remained ‘alert, oriented and cooperative throughout,’ the Vatican said. … The update Monday evening was another turn in the pope’s roller-coaster health crisis, in which his condition has oscillated between slight improvements and concerning setbacks. It followed a weekend of relatively positive news.” (03/03/25)
