“Police have cracked a Las Vegas cold case 30 years after the body of a 27-year-old woman was found by a Nevada highway. In Aug. 1994, Arizona State University student Jason White received a phone call that would destroy his family. ‘It was the Friday before I started my semester,’ White said at a press conference Tuesday, while holding back tears. ‘I got a call from the police that my sister’s body had been found.’ At the time, Jason’s older sister, Melonie White, was moving back and forth between Las Vegas and Phoenix with her young son, trying to settle on a career. She was last seen by friends on the night of Aug. 26, 1994, around Fremont and 15th streets in downtown Las Vegas, police said. The following day, two hikers found her body by a turnout on Lake Mead Blvd., near the entrance to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, around 10 miles east of the city.” (10/23/24)
