CA: Superintendent mired in controversy to call it quits amid San Francisco school closures

Source: SFGate

“San Francisco Unified School District Superintendent Matt Wayne is expected to resign after more than a year of criticism about his leadership amid a crumbling school district, according to multiple media outlets. Wayne’s plan to resign was first reported by Mission Local and the San Francisco Chronicle. Laura Dudnick, a spokesperson for the district, did not confirm Wayne’s resignation to SFGATE but pointed to a special district meeting in which the Board of Education plans to discuss ‘one agenda item related to school district personnel.’ The meeting is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. The news of Wayne’s possible resignation comes about 10 days after the district announced a long-awaited list of schools that could close or merge to rectify SFUSD’s concerns about declining enrollment. It’s unclear what the proposed separation agreement looks like and how Wayne’s resignation might affect the school closure process.” (10/18/24)
