CA: Newsom swats down CBS reporter’s Second Amendment question

“Speaking in Monterey Park a few days after police say a gunman shot and killed 11 people in a dance studio, California Gov. Gavin Newsom gave a forceful response to CBS reporter Norah O’Donnell when she pressed him about his opinion on the Second Amendment. Separate video clips of the exchange, which CBS posted on its website and on Twitter, begin with Newsom — who is visibly angry — commenting on the frequency of mass shootings in the U.S. ‘Nothing about this is surprising. Everything about this is infuriating,’ he said. ‘The Second Amendment is becoming a suicide pact.’ … Later in the interview, O’Donnell references Newsom’s earlier comments about the Second Amendment and is interrupted when she begins to ask another question. She pushes back, saying that many people in the U.S. support the Second Amendment.” (01/24/23)
