Afghanistan: Former lawmaker shot dead in her home

“A former female Afghan lawmaker was murdered in her Kabul home early Sunday morning, according to local law enforcement. Mursal Nabizada, who was in the Afghan parliament from 2019 until it was ousted by the Taliban in August 2021, was killed along with her security guard, while her brother was wounded in the attack. She was one of the few female lawmakers who remained in the country after they were overthrown. … This was the first time a lawmaker from the Ghani government has been killed since the Taliban assumed power, but there have been indications that the security situation is worsening, according to CNN.” (01/16/23)
