“President Donald Trump signed legislation to end the longest government shutdown in US history, bringing to a close a 43-day standoff that disrupted public services, halted federal aid programs, and sidelined federal workers. The interim spending bill funds most of the government through Jan. 30, leaving open the possibility of another confrontation early next year.
