Inspector General: FBI still falls short in child sex abuse cases

Source: Washington Post

“The Justice Department inspector general said Thursday that the FBI is still not adequately handling allegations of child sex abuse, years after the Larry Nassar scandal led to a series of new rules on such investigations. While the agency has instituted new rules about referring such allegations to local police or social service agencies, ‘the FBI needs to improve compliance’ with its own policies in multiple areas, the audit report from Inspector General Michael Horowitz found. Those areas include mandatory reporting to other agencies, victim services, sharing tips between FBI field offices, and responding to allegations of active child sexual abuse.” [editor’s note: Maybe reallocate resources away from creating “terrorists” out of whole cloth? – TLK] (08/29/24)
