“Is censorship justified when a consensus considers an opinion erroneous? Vice presidential nominee Tim Walz thinks so. He said, ‘There’s no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech, especially around our democracy.’ … Whether Walz has good intentions or not is irrelevant. He is menacing human freedom and flourishing. What will happen when the norm of Western civilization, tolerance for competing ideas, disappears? Is freedom of speech necessary to promote human progress even when others consider your opinions offensive?” (08/29/24)
