Biden Absolutely Should Take Credit for the Economy

“For an incumbent like Biden, selling the economy is not a choice but a necessity. If you can’t convince voters that you have helped the economy in the last four years, then you don’t have much of a case for re-election beyond ‘the other guy is worse.’ In this case, the other guy has his own economic track record, which, to many Americans, is good. In fact, Biden might consider tackling this perception too, explaining how Trump was merely handed a growing economy painstakingly mended by the Obama-Biden administration while Trump bequeathed him an economic dumpster fire. And, to reiterate a point I made last week, the Biden campaign should circumvent a national media prone to negativity and assemble an army of regular Americans willing to give Biden credit in their local media outlets. Biden has a story to tell, and it’s a good one.” (05/30/24)
