“The race for political party nominations will seriously heat up soon. The Republicans have planned another debate later this month; it will be interesting to see if Donald Trump decides to join that one. I suspect it will depend on how things look in the polls. If he is still far ahead, he will use the same rationale for not attending as he did in the first debate. If he feels some discomfort, he’ll show up. We’ll see. My guess right now is, no, he won’t be there. If the polls are anywhere near accurate prognosticators of the future (and that’s the key — they can try to tell us about current trends, but they can’t predict the future), then the Republican nomination seems to be sewn up.” (09/11/23)
