“Law enforcement officers are withdrawing from around former Pakistani PM Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore, officials said. Police from capital Islamabad had tried for a second day to arrest Khan in a case pertaining to his selling state gifts given by foreign leaders while he was prime minister. Officials said the operation to arrest Khan has been suspended due to a cricket match scheduled later on Wednesday in Lahore. … Hundreds of PTI supporters have ringed Imran Khan’s residence in Lahore, holding off at least one fresh attempt by the police to storm the premises. Video circulating on social media – many distributed by official PTI accounts – showed several bloodied supporters and others struggling to cope with tear gas. … Imran Khan’s lawyer Khawaja Haris and his team have petitioned the Islamabad High Court for the suspension of the arrest warrant for the former premier.” (03/15/23)
